Alexander Taylor
With an unconventional background in music, Alexander thrives while creating unique soundscapes for his scores, oftentimes using unusual instruments in weird and organic ways. Considered part of the new wave of horror, Mr. Taylor loves anything that goes bump in the night.
His recent score to the award-winning documentary Scream Queen! My Nightmare On Elm Street (streaming exclusively on Shudder) has been getting praise from all over the world. “A superb score by Alexander Taylor helps to capture the optimism of the overarching message - while leaving the audience ready to start dancing in their favorite 80’s shades,” says Samantha McLaren from Scream Horror Magazine. You can find the original score on vinyl at 1984 Publishing. He also scored the Paramount+ film Unknown Dimension. Later this year (2022) he will be scoring the sequel to the cult 80’s film, The Mutilator with the original director returning.
His work can be heard in the Thomas Jane helmed werewolf film Hunter’s Moon, released by Lionsgate. “Hunter’s Moon is a splash of Tom Waits, a pinch of Marco Beltrami, and a healthy scoop of insanity seamlessly blended together into Alex’s organic and quirky thriller score,” writes Greg Richling (Head of Production at Pfonetic/bassist for The Wallflowers). His haunting score from Dreamcatcher was released by famed studio Samuel Goldwyn.
The crime-thriller Arkansas, starring Vince Vaughn, John Malkovich, and Liam Hemsworth had Alex coming in towards the end to help save the score. The film also features original music by Devendra Banhart and The Flaming Lips.
Taylor crafted an intense score to the thriller Dead of Night, which stars Lance Henriksen and Matthew Lawrence.
With several more horror films in post-production right now, as well as frequently collaborating with Jason Blum & Eli Roth’s Crypt Tv, Alexander has become one of the go-to composers in the horror genre.
